Sleeper of the Week: Manila Killa

This guy makes some of the best bootlegs/remix that I have EVER heard hands down, everything this kid reworks is gold and his latest remix of the Deadmau5 masterpiece Strobe is no exception. A young kid that hails from the Philippines, who's creativity allows him to make a real array of tracks.  Where his skills really lie is in the ability to infuse the vocals and ignite energy in the track. His tracks always seem to have that crowd pumping energy, and people seem to really like his bootlegs when I perform. One of my favorite mixes would have to his bootleg titled 'Titanium Minds' which is a blend of David Guetta's 'Titanium' and Feenixpawls 'Colours'. Manila Killa, KILLED IT, the tracks blend so perfectly that it feels almost like it was always one song. Big ups to this dance music producer, I'm always excited to see what he is up too next and I hope now you are too. Remember you heard it first on West Coast 808.

Paris Hilton's Train Wreck of a DJ Appearance

So, yet again Paris attempts to somehow stay relevant in the public eye, most of the time for the wrong reasons (cough cough). Ms. Hilton hangs with DJs so she must have figured being a DJ would come easy .... boy was she wrong. Along with the awkward dancing and her ill attempts to get the crowd going, she also displayed a lack of any technical knowledge of what mixing entails. Her transitions between tracks horrendous manipulation of EQs, and she even lacked the mental capacity to play the correct track when it came to belting out the lyrics for 'Last Night' her song with Brazilian legend Afrojack(why would he????). With an over the top ensemble and a clear lack of understanding of the art, Paris embarrasses herself AGAIN for our entertainment. To the guy who came on stage to fix the gain: thanks for the attempt to make things better, but it was a lost cause. Moral of the story is... Paris you are not a DJ, so please see your way out.

Sleeper of the Week: Kairo Kingdom

Looking for some music to blow the top off your next gig or just wow your friends, well look no further than Kairo Kingdom. A newly found project consisting of Electro House, Glitch Hop, and Dubstep. This duo from German are obviously highly talented in terms of production with having a wide array of work. On their Big Fish EP Crazy Rock, you see that it has a little bit of everything from really filthy and crunchy dub on the track Crazy Rock and Das Knarz big cords and heavy breakdowns.  I can not wait to see these two Germans future endeavors. Included below area a few of their latest tracks, turn it up loud and let that bass slap you into submission. SORRY for the long wait, but West Coast 808 is BACK!

Thomas Gold

In 2010 Thomas Gold was voted "Breakthrough DJ/ Producer" in DJ Mag and for good reason; this Munich native brings the FIRE.  Above is 'Sing 2 Me' which I felt was going to be his best song of this year UNTIL I heard his latest project. I know that I just posted about Dirty South's remix of Miike Snow's track 'The Devil's Work'; well Thomas Gold is soon to release a remix of another Miike Snow track 'Wave'. This song starts out with a synth that makes you feel a little bit like you are floating through space, and then the the drums come in and it continues to climb; then BOOM. Just peep the rip of the world exclusive preview from the one and only BBC's Radio One with Pete Tong if you would like to see what I mean by 'BOOM'. 'Wave' is set to be officially released on the 14th of May on  Beatport, and this song is sure to be a crowd pleaser (Trust Me!).

Currently Thomas Gold is touring around the globe making stops in Brazil, the Netherlands,  and will be performing in June at EDC Las Vegas (unfortunately I will not be attending but sure to be a great show). Below I have also included a mix of some of my favorites from Thomas Gold for whom sky's the limit. ENJOY!

Sleeper of the Week: Badisco

Badisco is a young producer from Switzerland, who took his skills as a keyboardist and knowledge of sequencers into the realm of electronic music production. His tracks have a similar sound to Avicii and Basto (if you still don't know him you should) with the big progressive cords and a happy and uplifting feel to his tracks. Melancholy (featured below) was my first taste of the Badisco sound, and since then I have been hooked on that big piano sound and his build ups are sure to get people jacked. On his SoundCloud page ( http://soundcloud.com/badisco ) you can see the preview he posted just yesterday for his upcoming track Horizons, which is definitely a track that I am excited to be officially released.  That being said, the best is yet to come from this young gun, and be on the look out for him in the near future.  If you like West Coast 808 tell your friends about the blog and be sure to  Like the blog on Facebook to receive updates.  Thank you to all my readers.

Dirty South's New Release: Devil's Work Remix

Dirty South has been one of my favorite producers for a while, he has got flare to his work and his use of vocals is superb. The song the 'Devil's Work' was originally a Miike Snow track which had a calm feel to it, but Dirty South transforms the song into a club/festival banger. The build ups are long but when the beat drops, the song becomes a whole different beast.  Below is a HQ version of his remix which was released today and is available for purchase on Beatport. I also have included some of  my favorite tracks.

Bio: Dirty South or 'Dragan Roganovic' was born in Serbia, and began is career by making remixes and mashups on his family computer. His work caught the eye of Australian record company: Vicious Vinyl, and he his career has just been uphill from there. In 2009 he was ranked 59 in DJ Mags top 100,  and has done tracks with the likes of the Swedish House Mafia and David Guetta.
